Many women name cardigans as their favourite knit garment. They can be dressed down with jeans and a T-shirt or dressed up with a blouse and pencil skirt. This one has a classic, timeless silhouette with heavy cable and twist stitch patterning. The twisted stitches are worked on every row. This makes it very easy to see exactly where the knitter is, in the pattern, when the work has been put down. That means no losing track of the cable crossings. The stitch pattern is written and charted for ease of use. All sections are worked bottom up. Optional instructions have been included for waist shaping. Both left and right front instructions have been written out in full.
Most of my pattern names are characters in Agatha Christie mysteries. Claire Trent appears in The Red Signal, a short story included in The Hound of Death and Other Stories collection. It was published in 1933.
This collection includes the first appearance of Christie's famous short story The Witness for the Prosecution. The author subsequently wrote a well known play based on this story which has been adapted for both film and for television productions.
