The leaning trees are iconic images from the world around us here on the West Coast. They also exist in the art of those from around the Great Lakes of Eastern Canada, primarily the work of the Group of Seven, including such artists as Lawren Harris and F.H. Varley.
The stranding technique makes the mittens and slouchy warm and lightweight. Working with only two colours makes the knitting simpler than an elaborately coloured fair-isle.
Both the mittens and slouchy are embellished with 11mm Acoya shell buttons. If you choose to embellish you will need 36 buttons.
There is only one size of slouchy. The ribbing is quite stretchy and will fit most heads and the slouchy shape of the hat is quite full.
The body of the slouchy consists of 8 panels, 2 of the leaning tree leaning right and two of the leaning tree leaning left, each of these panels separated by a stripes and waves panel.
