Currach Stole

This rectangular stole is knit from the long bottom edge upward, using three colors of yarn. It is a fairly quick knit, using DK-weight yarn, but could also be worked up into a great chunky stole using worsted-weight yarn.

There are two sizes included in the pattern, one smaller (14 x 48") shawlette and an 18-1/2 x 60" full-sized shawl.

My inspiration for this pattern is the curved-hull Irish fishing boats, or currachs. The lace motifs look like the curved hulls of those boats, lined up in the choppy waves of the North Sea waters.

Knitting skills needed include chart reading and some basic knowledge of lace knitting.
