These women's sized socks are knit from the toe up. They feature an easy-to-work cast-on with boxy toe, triangular heel gusset and slip-stitch heel flap. An O-shaped cable pattern runs up the foot and onto the leg, with a stretchy sewn bind-off technique at the ribbing edge.
They are knit with approximately 400 to 425 yards from one skein of fingering weight yarn (435-yards/100-g skein), and the pattern is written for two sizes, S/M and M/L women's sizes. Required skills include being able to read charts, some basic knowledge of sock construction, use of a cable needle, and knitting in the round.
The cable motif reminded me of the O-shaped hollows in old oak trees - perfect for fall!
(Wooly Wonka suggests a slightly smaller needle for the foot of the Hollow Oak Socks than for the leg--ed.)
