There's the Janis Joplin style of poncho, of course, closely related to the Summer of Love ponchos. But (we quarrel with Sirdar's nomenclature here) this is surely a Capelet. A capelet that Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn would have delighted in. The shape is pure, true, slightly belled; the neck begs for an accessorizing Hermès scarf or similar. Simply made in two body pieces. They are then joined, and you work the garter 'cowl' straight; then fold it down to the inside and tack the edge down-- this gives the standup quality. Any road, a standout.
