With this pattern, the new knitter can bring forth garments that are very chic and sporty, in either the dramatic striping shown or plain. Shoulders are drop so there's no armhole shaping, though the sleeve caps are a little rounded. Choose either a shawl collar or a buttoned shoulder. The buttoned shoulder version has a dipped back neck; the shawl collar style's back neck is straight across. We are especially enamoured of the striped, contrast-trimmed version shown at top left, with its great-looking pocket on the left sleeve; you'd pay a lot for this style in a fancy kids' shop.
