This extremely feminine piece combines a number of disparate elements into a fluid whole. The lace is graceful, only 4 rows to the pattern; the little French cap sleeves flirt with the onlooker; and the deep cowl draws everyone in, the wearer and viewer alike. Everything's knit in flat pieces; the cowl is simply a long st st rectangle. When it's long enough to fit comfortably around the neckline, you graft its cast-on together with the live stitches on your needle for a seamless finish, and sew it in. The silk/merino blend of yarn is a dream to wear and work with.
