These terrific pieces (either with the cowl/turtleneck or the slash neck) could hardly be easier to knit. The body of the cowl neck version is worked sideways, in one piece, with neck shaping; the slash neck version has you just casting off and casting on again for the neck, and is worked in a traditional vertical way. Cowl is knitted separately and sewn on. The sides are left open for more of a serape effect, but you could run a short seam up from the hem on each side to anchor and ground the piece. Lovely use of a variegate in both cases.
