This is a Basic Cardigan in six sizes, Newborn to Three Years. The back of the neck is shaped with short rows to raise the back of the neck and lower the front. It is a Top-Down No-Sew pattern. The samples are worked in Cabin Fever Cotton Tweed DK and Bernat Jr. Jacquards. As a Basic Cardigan Pattern, it works well with all colours: Solid, Varigated or Self Patterning yarn. If you are new to the Top Down, No-Sew methods, it is a good place to start. If you are a creative knitter, you can insert panel patterns; such as cables, lace, or Knit/Purl panels down the front beside the buttonbands, down the centre back or even down the sleeves as there are a generous number of stitches in each section to fit in the panel patterns. You can also be even more creative by inserting an Intarsia Pattern in the body section. The good thing about top-down is the fact that you can adjust the body and sleeve lengths to meet the requirements if the child is slim, slightly taller and has longer arms than the standard sizes. Also, the raglan style fits longer as the child grows.
