This handsome cardi could very well be your first Aran-style garment. The back is plain st st, for one thing, so only the fronts have cables. And because only the fronts have cables, you don't have to worry about matching up patterns at the raglan seamlines (a big relief). So all you need do is concentrate on the strong vertical lines of the piece, enjoying the way the ribbing flows into the panels (nice touch, that), and marvel at your skill while actually knitting it.
