19 Cap & Mittens

These beautiful classics, knitted flat and then seamed, are meant to coordinate with the Aran Pullover and Cardigan found here. No specific gauge is given in this pattern. But Candide usually knits up to 16 sts/4 in/10 cm on a 5mm/US8 needle in st st, which is the needle size recommended for the hand of the man's mitten and the cap. The hand of the women's mitten is meant to be knitted on a 4mm/US6. The pattern is set out with an unusual, but clear, written charting method.
